I believe that everyone deserves access to pastoral care, regardless of their religious/spiritual background or level of need. I also believe that everyone has different religious/spiritual/emotional needs, and those can only be understood by listening deeply and taking the time to pay attention to each person in the moment.
As a Unitarian Universalist, we are taught that there are many different orienting systems that guide each of us on our search for truth and meaning. What brings us together is not our beliefs, but our common humanity and shared exploration of those beliefs. This allows me to able to hold the multiplicity of beliefs and worldviews that were shared with me, while still remaining firm in my own personal beliefs.
